Log the Twelfth

T'would seem that cultists be good for somethin after all.

We pulled back into Freeport, happy about our victory over the cultists and ready totake on teh devil's triangle. The only thing that be stopping us was our lack of supplies. Luckily for us, other people ain't too discerning about where they get their magical items. We was able to off load all of them cultists cursed blades for a fair price and refitted the Lady'd Favour to it's glory days. 6 new cannons adorned the decks and enough supplies and such secured below to keep us at sea for months if need be. We did have some new additions to the crew. Old Carthy there, being the only one that can properly work the sextant signed on right away. We'll have to keep him seperated from the rest of the crew if possible. He has this feeling that he won't be acoming back this way ever again. Not a very positive attitude, but I'm sure a few days at sea will change his mind. And Drak Sockit convinced the captain that he needed a few more of his orc brothers on board, so now we have a trio of orc warriors and an old orcish sailor. The warriors aren't too much help, but they're strong and don't question orders too much. Mistress had to lay down the ship's rules to them before we set sail, but they seemed to be agreeable with everything. I'm confident that Drak can keep them under control.

Now, then. How best to describe the journey to the devil's triangle? Ahh, lock yourself in a room for 3 weeks and that should best describe it. We did have a bit of excitment 'round day 5 or so. It seems that one of the barbarian ships from the nearby lands was heading our way. Now the barbarians and the elves 'round these parts have been having talks 'bout something or other and we wasn't too surprised to see the ship. We played out a bit more sail and changed course a bit to steer away from her. But seems that the captain was looking for some trouble. For 2 days we ran across the waters, with the barbarians getting closer every hour. Finally we could no longer avoid the truth; they was a gunnin' for us.

So we decide to bring the fight to them.
The captain started letting loose with his flaming balls of death, but they just seemed to fizzle out when they touched the ship. They responded with a few bolts of lightning, which I was able to dispell easily enough. Now we decide to go back to tried and true methods. We cut the sails and let Kenby do his thing. Within seconds we was broad side them and let loose with the cannons. Some general damage, but we rattled them enough that they missed with their shots. And then we let them see the cannons that we had hidden in our back sides; we brought down their rigging with those shots. And then the dirty business came about. We could see that they was taking on water, so we spun 'round and prepared to board the vessel. Never pass up a chance for some loot we does say.

The fight was quick and brutal. We didn't even have a chance to offer them terms of surrender before they was all lying at our feet. They was good sailors and we gave them a proper burial with full dedications to Harrimast, god of the pirates. I'm sure that our crew managed to make off with some of the booty, but they put in a good fight, so we'll just call it spoils of battle and let it go. We did find something interesting; the figurehead contained a powerful enchantment that made the ship partially immune to fire. A damn worthy addition to our vessel.

Now we just have to survive passing through the triangle.
