Log The Fourth

I must report that twas a disappointing night for everyone.

As we returned to the ship after our rousing victory on dreaming street, we had the crew lock our guest down in the hold and let him rest for awhile while we started to get read to question him. We was waitin' for Mistress to get back from her quarters with that fancy pants whip that she claims is used for getting hellifonts to do what's you want. She was taking a long time and I was hoping that she was just over joyed at the changes that the crew had done for her, but it seemed that it was not the case. I was talking with the crew after wards and they was mighty disappointed that Mistress and Kemby didn't follow through with their wedding plans and all. Although from what the crew tells me, Mistress love of whips seems to extend to the bedroom as well and I would have had to been on hand to heal the groom. But anyway, from the ways that they was arguing when she gets back from her quarters it seems like someone was getting cold feet about the marriage and all. Might have just been a mis understanding about who was paying the dowry, but since we ain't got no idea where either of their's families is I don't know why they was arguing so much. Now I don't be agreeing with their decision but it seems that the wedding be off. Call me old fashioned, but if yous going to have a night of passion with a woman and you ain't payin' her for it then there better be a wedding on the way. Now Kemby kept a saying that nothing happened on that night they was watching the Kraken's claw and I suppose that we must be believing him...but I think that we be watching them from now on. The crew was so disappointed that they didn't get to perform the 'dance of love' for them that I thought I almost saw reggy shed a tear....which is hard for a dead man to do. Lucky for everyone the captain saw fit to divy up some of the accumulated loot and send some of the crew ashore.

But's now I'm ahead of meself. So we go down and start questioning our new guest, hoping to gain some insight into what's going on at the book store. Now this guy must not have heard the rumours about captain Bowman, 'cause he started telling us lots of stuff. Seems that the book store is a front for captain Bowman's drug runnin' and they bullied the old book keeper into lettin' them us the place. He also tells us that the first mate, Fosey, be around the book store lots and that Fosey knows where some of Bowman's warehouses are. The crewman even provided us with the password into the drug den for tomorrow. And now we is getting' excited. We got three of Bowman's crew captive already and if we can get the first mate then we gots a good chance of getting Flint's friend back. And if that don't work I'm still guessing that there be a sizable ransom that can be paid to us.

Morning didn't bring us any good signs. A hot day that keeps threatenin' to rain but never does so. Still, we've set our minds to things so we start making some plans for getting into the book store and past that damn door. The captain volunteers to play the druggie this time and we set off to the book store. Once we get in there, I strike up a talk with the old man and ask him to let me into the back. He tells me that they've added another password, which is a welcome bit of news to have. And then I tells him to go sit in the corner and not move or he could get hurt. Lucky for him he listened good and we had the shop to ourselves. So the captain heads down that tight little corridor and starts asking to be let in. Seems like the old man was right as they be asking us for 2 passwords, which the captain gives and they open up the door.

And then things started gettin' messy.
Soon as we hear the door opening, Kemby wraps both hands around that blade of his and rushes through the curtain and almost drops that poor bastard to the ground with a single hit. We all start moving down the corridor and round the corner when the second door flips open and a trio of goons start moving our way. We wasn't worried, seein' as how the captain laid that spider curse on 'em and they just started flailin' 'round. 'Course then we got another big surprise as the biggest woman I ever seen comes a stridin' out of that room. She had hair the colour of fire and a blade that was as big as Mistress. And it was quicker than Mistress too. One swing and Mistress hits the ground in a pile of blood and guts. Kemby pushes his way forward and starts trading blows with red while I pulled what was left of Mistress out of the way and poured the blessing of Harrimast into her. Well, she was winded, but still alive. I guess that'll teach her.

By now, Red has moved back into the room, so I goes rushin' in after her just as the captains hellbolts knock her feet out from under her. I was able to see some figure try and pull her away, but one good hit from me trusty mace stopped that. Now the captain lifts off that curse and Kemby and I do a good job of distracting the goons for each other and in no time there be only one left and he drops his blade quick as can be. 'Bout this time we hear a FOOM and look to see Mistress covered in flames, rollin' around the room. I just caught the look of a little green skinned face behind a barred window and the captain and I go rushin' over. It's a damn good thing that I'm as nimble as I am. As the captain open that door, them little buggers start throwin' some drug powder at us. Seems that was their only trick, cause just threatening them with a beatin' caused them to surrender.

We started lookin' for the fella that I saw, but we can'ts find him. No sign of him anywhere. Twas a bit of a mystery, right up until one of them goblins showed us a hidden door. Seems he's looking out for us too, since he even showed us where a trap was and how to disarm it. So we spend a few minutes catchin' our breath before we head down these hidden stairs. Mistress trys rolling the druggies, Kemby starts smashin' open some chests and the captain begins talkin' to them goblins. I opt for the smart course of action and commander red's breast plate. I felt a damn sight better with some steel 'tween me and them blades instead of some leather.

Eventually we start heading down the stairs and we barely reach the bottom before Kemby screams and rushes into the room. Seems that a bunch of goons was waiting in ambush for us. So we all go rushin' in as well, which wasn't the best idea lookin' back on it. Seems that first mate Fosey, that damn bastard elf, was waiting for us there as well. I guess that even a good piece of steel isn't the best if you turn your back on the bastard. He stuck me a good one and then he pulled out a bow and started makin' a pin cushion out of Mistress. Not much that we could do at that point since Kemby and I was knee deep in them scurvy sea dogs. The captain was doing his best to cut down that bastard Fosey, but it just wasn't working. Lucky for us that little goblin decided that we was the winning team. I thought that the fight scared him off, but he come runnin' back with a couple of potions and healed Mistress right up. Course, the next thing I know, I turn round and the entire room is covered in a spider's curse. I can just see that bastard Fosey standing outside it. Too bad he slipped away before I could readjust his personality. And that bastard must have spent a king ransom on this little hide away. I step into the same room and the bastard done disappear again. I knows that it probably be another hidden door, but I'm not chasing him by meself. So we all help each other out of that damn web and even discover yet another sea-dog caught in it as well. If this keeps up then we're going to have more captives than we have crew to watch them.

Well, we got no choices as this point. We have to sit and wait for the damn sticky mess to disappear before we can get out and we need a rest before we chase down Fosey. Let's just hope that he's by himself at this point...I don't know how many times we can pull Mistress back from the brink of death.
