Log the Seventth

It seems that some strange force be trying to keep us from discovering the fabled treasure of Yarashad.

After we done checking over the bodies of them cultists and convincing the guards that we was the victims in this case, we was all set to head off to talk to Caleb Solomon about the magical sextant. Seems that mistress had other ideas. Now I don't know if she was just getting friendly with me or if she was actually trying to steal something out of me pockets, but the captain seemed to think that she was trying to pull something outta me pockets and I not be one to argue with the captain. Now since she couldn't be whipping herself and she didn't get much of nothing out of there, we just decided that she should be cleaning me boots. Although I don't see why they need cleaning...they was dirty when I pulled them outta that pile of trash and they're still dirty. If someone cleans them they might end up fallin' apart. Still, captain's orders and all that.

It seems that some of them old sailors made a good living. Solomon had a big ole house up in the merchant district, complete with gardens and guards. And you could feel the power of Harrimast just pouring out of the place. Definately not a place where you would want to start some stuff. Lucky Lucien did a damn fine job of making sure that we wasn't followed and Mistress must have said the magic word. Soon as she mentioned the Full Fathom Five we was ushered in to see Solomon. Lots of talking was done and he gist of it all was that one of his relatives done give the sextant to the captains council for safe keeping many years ago. Yet another place that we have to check out. I swear when we finally find the damn thing I won't know what to do; I'll be expecting to have to go some place else. So there was two things that stood out in my mind after that meeting. There was a lot of talk about how only someone of noble blood could use the sextant, which means that we gots to find us a noble who is willing to travel the seas with us. The other was a painting of Black Jenny Ramsey, one of the full fathom five. Damn fine looking lady. Almost a shame that she be dead or buried or drowned or whatever it was that Harrimast done do to her.

So after all that, we done head over to the captains council and they done tell us to go look in the hall of treasures. So after more walking, we end up at the hall of treasures and get another slap in the face. The sextant sure enough was giving up for safe keeping, but was stolen sometime during the reign of that maniac Milton Drake. Seems like he done stole it and hawked it to raise money for that damn light house of his. That treasure be looking further and further away.

Now as we was leaving the hall, I notice that one of them new fangled orcs be trying to catch my attention. He calls himself Spacko and starts asking me to help him spring Drak Sockit from prison. Seems that the council don't much care for him claiming to be a son of Drak and was wanting him to show his proof. Well, the thick skull done refuse and they locked him up and dumped him into one of them floating prison barges that they got anchored out in the harbour. Now I ain't never heard of anyone escaping from such a place, but there be a first time for everything. So after the captain finds out all the skinny on what they charged Drak with and where they done put him, we all head off to Krom's throat to meet up with Spacko and make some plans.

Now I done seen some rowdy parties, but I gots to say that an orc bar done beat them all. Lots of fighting and drinking and not much else going on in there. We meet up with Spacko and head into the back room and then we notice that Mistress is missing. Looks like the reasons that she turned down Kemby's proposal is that he just wasn't tough enough. I done talked with Draks boys a lot and I think that I done convince them not to go charging across the harbour killing everything in their path. They is going to wait for us to try a thinking plan first. And then we done hear the strangest stroke of luck that we ever done come across. Drak Sockit was always talking about how he had evidence that he was a descendant from the original Drak, but was reluctant to show it. Now Spacko claims he saw it and that it done look just like the sextant that we been looking for. Next time I go on some treasure hunt, I'm just going to start by asking some down and out types. Odds are that he'll be sitting on just waiting for someone to come and take it away from him. Anyway, we got Spacko to show us which hulk they put Drak on and then we started making some plans.

Old lusien managed to find out a bunch of information and even got us some maps of the place. Looks like we're going to have to rely on cunning and thinking to get us out of this one...which means that we should probably leave Kemby and Mistress on the boat. Aww, we'll probably need them if the blades come out. So these hulks is old boats that been partially sunk in the harbour. They got about 30 some guards on the top deck and about 400 lost souls below decks. And once someone goes down, they just don't come up. The only thing that be working in our favour is that this hulk got 2 crime lords set up on opposite ends. Maybe we can gets one of them to do our dirty work for us.

Well, we done made a plan. I hope that me next entry is filled with praise and happiness and I won't have to put down a eulogy for someone. The longboat is being lowered, we're off to attempt the impossible.
