Log the Eleventh

Once we broke down the pile of stones enough to move past, the rush into the room started. Kemby stepped out first and was greeted with a hail of crossbow bolts for his bravery. Mistress and Lucky were close behind. I could hear screams and shouts from in the room, but couldn't move past the captain to get into the fray. As the captain stepped in he raised his arms and a huge blast of heat washed around the room; it was if the gates of hell had opened up. Luckily the captain has a good eye and it was only the cultists that tasted the hell-fire. I could now eyes the room and saw a trio of cultists standing on a ledge, lettin' lose with crossbows at who ever crossed their paths. I could see the captain and Kemby taking shelter in a tunnel under the ledge and watched Mistress and Lucky move further down the tunnel and disappear from view. Then Lucky lets loose with a yell and starts tangling with a grey ooze that he was quick enough to discover in the tunnel. Another blast from the captains fiery balls and a few well placed shots from Kemby and the cultists all ended up taking a dive off of the ledge. Seconds later, Lucky and Mistress appear on the ledge; seems that the ooze was no match for the crew of the Lady's Favour. While we was gathering some treasure Mistress found us some damn fine rum, but used it to burn the ooze to
ash. Still not sure on whether that was a good idea or a waste of booze.

During the searching we find us a trap door that leads us down to an octagonal room covered with many fine carvings. Strange place though...all of the drawings and such is fine, but the whole place had a damn creepy feel to it. Lucky starts telling us that he can hear some armor moving on the other side of a set of double doors and the occasional screamed insult. Seems like the kind of place someone would be keeping poor Carthy. So we all get ready and Lucky pop open the door. And sure as the sea is wet, there be Carthy and that bastard Billy Bones. Now Carthy done look like a shark used him to floss his teeth and then spit him out, but at least he still be breathing. Now Billy boy there, he starts screaming and yellin' st us. Trying to tell us to turn 'round and head home...he even tried to pay us off!! There was no way that we was leaving without Carthy...'specially at the paltry sum he was offering. Now, 'bout this time Captain Bonny steps us and starts negotiating with the bastard and we all just stand ready for anything. Now Billy must have been having a bad day since he ordered his goons to attack quicker than Kemby and Mistress done break off their engagement.

Once them goons started drawin' steel we mas in action. Mistress started rushin' into the room. I was assuming that she was gonna try and get Carthy outta there, but the handful of goons that rushed out and started cuttin' her to ribbons put a stop to that. Lucky rushed to her side, but with them cultists all invoking them evil powers it was only heart beats 'fore Mistress hit the ground and Lucky was bleeding like a stuck pig. That bastard Billy, done pull down some column of unholy fire on us, but the captain returned the favour and soon we had fire shootin' everywhere. Kemby was shooting at everything that moved, but once Mistress was outta the way, them bastards done swarm all over him as well. I was pull eldrick magicks outta everything that I had, barely keeping Kemby alive while he started slashing away at them cultists. And them bastards done wipe away the captains magick. We was barely keeping ourselves alive and we could hardly worry about mistress, but when we saw them bastards pulling her limp form back towards their altar, I started sweating a bit more. Another of the captains fiery balls of death exploded and a lot of them damn cultists went to sit beside their bastard gawd. 'Course, this made an opening for Billy boy to come a charging towards us, but luck was finally with us and the captain done manage to stop them all dead in their tracks with his spider's curse. And then Lucky and Kemby started laying the beats into Billy as he hung from those magic webs. I could hear Mistress giving a little victory dance as she managed to surprise some cultist who wormed his way outta the curse and drop him to the ground. Kemby and Lucky finally manage to deal the last blow to Billy. the captain released his curse and a maniacal charge from Kemby cleared the den of evil for now.

Now I know that there was some lootin' and rejoicing going on, but I can't say that I saw much of it. I was busy trying to keep everyone's insides on the inside. Real surprising at how some of these folks can be walking around after eatin' so much damned steel. After we was all feeling better we done gather up our booty and escorted Carthy outta that evil place. We stopped on the village to gather our breath and the captain started negotiating with Carthy about getting the knowledge to properly use the sextant. After a few references to how well we 'negotiated' with Billy Bones, Carthy agreed to join on. According to him, he be the only one who can use the sextant to the fullest ability.

Seems that we got us another crew member!
Now, 'twas a long walk back to the boat and then we was sailing back to the harbour. And our luck held again...no sea monsters or strange cultists jumped out at us the whole trip back.

Seems that there be nothing left for us to do but fire up the sextant and head on through the Devil's Triangle. Let's hope that at least some of us be knowing what we is doing.
