Log the Fourteenth

Seems that Carthy lied to us in many ways. First his not telling us that we need all 5 artifacts to get out of this strange place and also letting us believe that the sextant would make the ship invincible to the fury of hell's triangle.

As we took stock of our situation we found that the ship had sustained some minor damage, but nothing too serious, with the exception of the shattered mast. No amount of repairing was going to allow us to sail very far with that cracked piece of rubbish.

Luckily we could spy some jungles on all of the surrounding islands, so we rigged the sails as best we could and moved in towards the closest one. Now, being a fairly suspicious lot, we decided that we should explore the island before we allowed the crew access to it. So, with a heavily loaded jolly boat, we started rowing towards the cove that we had harboured in. we was halfway there when something knocks the boat and Lucky falls overboard. As we start trying to fish him out some strange looking shark boy jumps from the water, grabs hold of Kemby and pulls him under. 3 more of the foul beasts appear and we start slashing and poking for our lives. I don't know where Lucky learned to swim like that, but he was swimming circles around them shark boys and clouding up the water with their blood. We managed to get Kemby back on board, but then one of the shark boys grabbed ahold of Lucky, so Kemby grabbed a blade and dove back into the water. The fight was pretty much over at that point, although the last one tried to swim for it, but Lucky and ohGosh put a quick stop to that.

When we finally put ashore we was able to find lots of trees suitable for making a mast out of. Lucky also spies some village off by a lake and another one hidden high up in the trees. Now, one side of this island be a lush jungle and the other side be a rocky cliff, jutting well over 150 feet into the sky. Very strange, almost as if part of the island been blown away by something.

So we start a-walking towards the lake village and we gets close enough to notice that there is many a people in there. They've also got a stone wall circling the whole place, damn near 10 feet high. And smack in the center of the place is some sort of church, must be 60 foot high at the peak. The captain, meself and ohGosh start approaching the gates, with the others waiting in the trees in case of trouble. Soon as they sees us, the gates is closed and a whole lot of bows and arrows appear on the top of the wall. They wasn't very friendly to us although we did find out that they call their village crystal lake village and that this be the island of Mohab. Seems appropriate seeing as how there be a crystal clear lake right next to the village.

Now since we done value our lives, we walked away and decided to investigate the other village. It took a lot of walking, but we finally arrived at the spot where Lucky tells us the village is at. Looking up into the trees, I couldn't see nothing, but Kemby and Lucky swears that there be a village up there. So Kemby and the captain go flying into the branches and before long a couple of rope ladders come snaking down. We was in for a surprise when we get up to the top. We was surrounded by a bunch of strange looking creatures, all of them with more arms or eyes then they should have. Some of them didn't even have arms, but tentacles, like some strange squid. But the captain tells us that they is good folk so we head off with them and get taken to see the village priest. He done some chanting and I was pretty sure that he was casting some sort of detecting spell on us. In any case he seemed happy with the results and retired for the evening. We start talking with the village chief and asking him about Mohab and the other village. Seems that Mohab likes messing around with critters bodies, making them into new things. The ones that he likes get put in the crystal lake village and the others are banished and end up here. They call themselfes the children of Mutos. When we asked him if he could show us how to get to Mohab, he says that he can, if we do him a favour first. Seems that the crystal lake villagers done kidnapped the son of the priest and is planning on sacrificing him sometime soon. If we can rescue him, then they'll show us how to get to Mohab...and hopefully his artifact.

Seems that we came all this way just to put a lost kitten back into a tree. Here's hoping that the sacrifice isn't scheduled for some time.
